Blue Ridge originated from a section of Moquini that was earmarked for a retirement resort. Moquini decided against the idea of a retirement resort as part of their development and the developer Purple Plum Properties bought the section with the idea of establishing a small medium-density development with a strong focus on wildlife as it borders Moquini on one side, which is a nature reserve, and on the other side it borders on the greater Danabaai Conservancy and so Blue Ridge originated. After the initial infrastructure was established and the first plots were sold and registered, the Blue Ridge Homeowners Association was established. The last phase of the infrastructure development was the paving of the roads, and it was completed in 2019.
Blue Ridge consists of 101 individual plots laid out around a green strip to ensure space within the development.
